MaxMediaPlayer — Privacy Policy
Last updated: 17 June 2026
MaxMediaPlayer (“the App,” “we,” “us”) is a media player for iPhone and iPad that plays video files you already own. This policy explains what data the App does and does not handle. We designed MaxMediaPlayer to be local-first: your media stays on your device, and we collect as little as possible.
If you have questions, contact us at sumanth.9666@gmail.com.
1. The short version
- We do not sell your data. We do not show ads. We do not track you across other apps or websites, and the App does not use the device advertising identifier (IDFA).
- Your video files and their contents never leave your device through the App, except to the services you connect to (your own network/cloud storage) and never to us.
- Payments are handled entirely by Apple; we never see your card or payment details.
2. Information we do NOT collect
- We do not collect your name, email, phone number, contacts, photos, or location.
- We do not access, upload, copy, or analyze the contents of the videos you play.
- We do not require you to create an account with us.
3. Information processed on your device only
- Your media and playback settings. The files you add, plus your per-file preferences (resume position, chosen audio/subtitle track, audio/subtitle delay, aspect ratio) and global settings (subtitle style) are stored only on your device (in the app’s storage / iOS UserDefaults). We cannot see them.
- Credentials for your own servers. If you connect to your own network or cloud storage (e.g. SMB, Plex/Jellyfin/Emby, Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive, Box), those credentials/tokens are stored securely on your device (in the iOS Keychain) and are used only to connect to the service you chose. We never receive or store them.
4. Information that may leave your device
- Title/metadata lookups (optional). If you use the App’s metadata features, the title or filename of an item may be sent to third-party metadata providers (e.g. TMDB, TheTVDB) — through a relay we operate solely to protect API keys — to fetch artwork and descriptions. We do not attach your identity to these requests and do not retain them to build a profile of you.
- Connections you initiate. When you open media from your own network/cloud storage, the App communicates with those services using your credentials. That communication is governed by the privacy policy of the service you connected to, not by us.
- Diagnostics (if enabled). The App may collect anonymous, aggregated crash reports and basic usage/performance diagnostics to find bugs and improve stability. This data is not linked to your identity, is not used for advertising, and is not sold. It does not include the contents of your media.
5. Subscriptions and payments
MaxMediaPlayer offers an auto-renewing subscription with a free trial. All purchases, billing, and renewals are handled by Apple through your Apple Account. We do not receive or store your payment method, card number, or billing address. Apple may share with us anonymized or aggregated purchase information (e.g. that a subscription is active) so the App can unlock features. Manage or cancel your subscription anytime in iOS Settings → your Apple Account → Subscriptions. See Apple’s Privacy Policy.
6. Children
MaxMediaPlayer is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
7. Data retention & security
Because the App is local-first, the data it handles lives on your device and is removed when you delete the App (subject to iOS/iCloud backup behavior you control). Any optional, anonymized diagnostics are retained only as long as needed to diagnose and fix issues. We use industry-standard protections (including transport encryption / HTTPS and the iOS Keychain) for the limited data described above.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data, or to object to certain processing — for example under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act (DPDP) or the EU/UK GDPR. Because we hold essentially no personal data about you, most data is under your direct control on your device. For any request, email sumanth.9666@gmail.com and we will respond as required by applicable law.
9. Third-party services referenced
Depending on the features you use, the App may interact with: Apple (App Store / subscriptions), TMDB and TheTVDB (metadata you request), OpenSubtitles (subtitles you request), and the network/cloud storage providers you connect to with your own accounts. Each has its own privacy policy.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the App evolves. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, in the App.
